#16 Blondie, Martha, The Cribs

Classic Album

Blondie - Parallel Lines

When looking over the tracklist of this album it is easy to see why it fits into the classic category, it is full of amazing singles. Blondie is fun disco fused with a bit of punk and pop. It is fun to listen to and never too serious. This album contains several hits such as Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl and Hanging on the Telephone which are all huge.

Martha - Blisters in the Pit of my Heart

Eurgh what an emo sounding album name I hear you cry and you would be right because Martha is the extended band of those lovable ONSIND lads who we saw in Power Lunches one fine Dalston evening. Martha share all the same political wit but in a slightly more approachable format, they don't have quite the anger as the duo on their own. I have only listened once through (as I only found out about it yesterday) but early treats include Ice Cream and Sunscreen and Precarious (The Supermarket Song)

The Cribs - Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever

As I was writing this post you were telling me your enjoyment of Day 3s The Smith's Album, especially the guitar parts. Well say no more, I bring you this album by the Cribs which has Johnny Marr as guest guitarist. This release from 2007 is by a long way the Yorkshire band's most successful with classic hits such as Men's needs, Our Bovine Public and Moving Pictures. With the Cribs you have to appreciate the music and lyrics as the lead singer has one of the worst voices going but they are a great band nevertheless.
